EASY CARE INSTRUCTIONS for Your Wire Jewellery

Regular cleaning of your handcrafted Jewellery will keep it looking at it's best.

  •
  • CARE INSTRUCTIONS for your COPPER or SILVER JEWELLERY
  •
  • 'Copper is for Keeps'
  •
  • Maintain your Copper Jewellery at it's best just as you would your Sterling Silver pieces.
  •
  • Wash in warm water to remove dust, dirt and body oils. Dry thoroughly. Never leave the piece damp.
  •
  • Polish with an impregnated polishing cloth such as Goddards Long Term Silver Cloth available in most Supermarkets in the household cleaning products section.
  •
  • A good finish can be achieved with a good quality Car Sealer/Polish such as Mother's Californian. It should be very thinly smeared on a soft cloth and wiped over the jewellery, being careful not to create pools/accumulations of the product which will cause unwanted oxidation or verdigris. Finish by wiping over with a clean dry cloth. If there is any build-up remove it with a fine soft brush.
  •
  • If you have access to a tumbler most pieces can be tumbled in a polishing tumbler with lead 'shot' and a little dishwashing detergent. Never tumble a soft gemstone (such as turquoise) or pearls however. Tumbling will remove small scratches caused by normal daily wear and shine the metal without removing the antique finish.
  •
  • DO NOT dip your jewellery in liquid silver/copper cleaners (or Vinegar, Ketchup etc) if the piece has an 'antique' coloured finish, unless you want to remove the colouring and bring the item back to a plain, allover bright copper colour.
