Regular cleaning of your handcrafted Jewellery will keep it looking at it's best.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS for your COPPER or SILVER JEWELLERY
'Copper is for Keeps'
Maintain your Copper Jewellery at it's best just as you would your Sterling Silver pieces.
Wash in warm water to remove dust, dirt and body oils. Dry thoroughly. Never leave the piece damp.
Polish with an impregnated polishing cloth such as Goddards Long Term Silver Cloth available in most Supermarkets in the household cleaning products section.
A good finish can be achieved with a good quality Car Sealer/Polish such as Mother's Californian. It should be very thinly smeared on a soft cloth and wiped over the jewellery, being careful not to create pools/accumulations of the product which will cause unwanted oxidation or verdigris. Finish by wiping over with a clean dry cloth. If there is any build-up remove it with a fine soft brush.
If you have access to a tumbler most pieces can be tumbled in a polishing tumbler with lead 'shot' and a little dishwashing detergent. Never tumble a soft gemstone (such as turquoise) or pearls however. Tumbling will remove small scratches caused by normal daily wear and shine the metal without removing the antique finish.
DO NOT dip your jewellery in liquid silver/copper cleaners (or Vinegar, Ketchup etc) if the piece has an 'antique' coloured finish, unless you want to remove the colouring and bring the item back to a plain, allover bright copper colour.
